As of Friday night I am officially engaged to Monica. After a wonderful meal at Ruth's Chris Steak House we walked over to the trellis near the Marriott on the Wharf.
Without getting in to too much detail: Our first date was more of a first time meeting than a date, at least at first. It wasn't until dinner that night that we solidified the day as a "date." One of the corner stones and possible turning point from meeting to date was this trellis. We sat on a bench and spent an hour or so just talking. I remember being amazed at how easy this person was to talk to and, in my opinion, this was the defining event of the evening.
To bring things full circle I decided this would be the perfect place to propose. To help my cause I'd spent the last month or so perpetuating the idea that I'd yet to buy a ring and wouldn't propose until the end of summer. To further cover my intentions I used the usual(for me) excuse of tying my shoe to get down on one knee. Luckily I'm always tying my shoes so it didn't seem weird. (Although if Monica had looked closely she'd have seen my knee was actually on the wet ass ground.)
We're both so happy and would like to thank everyone, friends and family, for their kind words. I'll try and post some pictures in the next day or 2. As it stands it's almost 2:00 a.m. and my video games aren't going to play themselves.... why she's marrying me is a mystery.
Peace, Jeremy
*edit: I've added a couple photos of Monica's ring.
