The day of redemption has arrived folks, Zubaz are making a comeback. That's right, you too can relive a piece of 80's glory with these fuck ugly zebra print eye sores. Popular back in my elementary days for about a week, ironically also the length of time before they fell apart, these things told others on the playground that you meant business. Cause when I think awesome I think nothing but the finest rat hair cotton blend money can buy.Posted by Administrator The holiday season is over and that means it's back to the grind. For my own part I think I did an excellent job of decreasing the worlds stock of chocolate and pepsi. Weighing in 8lbs. heavier than when I left Boston I think my time was well spent. I'm hoping some day soon that this random stream of consciousness style of writing I have will come to head. Eventually I think I'll find my groove and write about a single specific topic with some small bits of randomness through in the mix. Not like my current standard of verbally shitting all over this page and hoping it sticks. After much hemming and hawing on my part I finally got the Wii. I was never enamored with the idea of giddily swinging around a stick o' plastic to simulate movement in a video game. Visions of power gloves danced in my head. I remember thinking how badass I'd be with a power glove. I could really punch in Mike Tyson's punch out, throw shurikens like a ninja master, and grab hold of the tri-force in Zelda. It wasn't until I had the stupid thing that I realized all the power glove allowed you to do was move individual digits on your hand in lieu of button presses. I digress. The reason I bring up the power glove is to give credence for my hesitation. It's not, as some believe, elitism (*cough* Gwas * cough*) or a lack of interest. It's simply that I've been wooed before with flashy human driven mechanics only to be let down. This time around I'm happy to say I was wrong. From the moment I opened the box till the day I left Fargo Chris, my father, and I were hooked. From bowling to golf, tennis to baseball the system was like crack. Now I know you can simply flick the wiimote and perform the actions in game but where is the fun? No we simulated the full range of motion and I'll tell you, the boxing game actually got Chris and I sweating. Not a pretty sight. And to make a complete 180 turn on topic: About 6 months ago I started working on an open source project known as the CandyFab, a 3D printer that prints in sugar. :) Combining my love of sugar with my knowledge about 3D modeling seemed like a no brainer. Unfortunately since I signed up the project has seen little no software development, most of the improvements are hardware side and I'm not keen on dropping $500+ dollars to help design the system. For the last couple of years or so I've really tried to open myself up, professionally, to open source projects. The need to grow beyond the confines of my job has finally sunk in. Every now and then I have moments where I realize I'm not the kid I used to be, a fact easily forgotten. It's time to affect some change in my life, maybe grow up just a tad.... only a tad cause I'll be damned if I am giving up my video games. *edit: Small addendum. The Daksystems frontpage is experiencing some problems with older versions of IE. Certain browsers are having problems with my CSS Styles. According to W3C my page is CSS compliant so I don't know where the problem lay. In the mean time I appreciate any and all feedback on problems pertaining to the website. Browser versions would also be handy.. [ view entry ] ( 938 views ) | permalink | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ( 2.9 / 68 )
